The facebook poke feature is often used to attract the attention of another user and mainly a friend from the opposite sex. Some users use poke feature to just say “hello”. Facebook created this feature because it thought it would be cool to have a feature without any specific purpose. People interpret the poke in many different ways and I know a few friends who have got into an relationship using this feature. Poke can be annoying at time especially when you hate the person who is poking you. There are a few applications on Facebook which extend the idea of the poke feature such as “kick” and “wave to”. People generally poke back and forth until one side gives up.
