Steven Tyler says that he plans to regroup Aerosmith to perform on the season finale of American Idol. Tyler was asked if he wanted his band to play on Idol and the singer/judge replied, "I'm dragging them in. As of yesterday, they didn't know. I said, 'You guys, Aerosmith is playing.' ... How can we not? It's a walk-on, walk-off [gig].".
Roger Daltrey is taking The Who's Tommy on a six-week North American tour beginning on September 13 in Hollywood, FL. Daltrey will perform the album in its entirety, using visuals to accompany classic songs like "Pinball Wizard," "See Me, Feel Me" and "The Acid Queen." Pete Townshend will not be a part of the tour, but he has given Daltrey his blessing. "I will be there in spirit. Roger has my complete and most loving support," Townshend said in a statement.
The surviving members of Pink Floyd reunited onstage on Thursday night at London's 02 Arena during a stop on Roger Waters' Wall tour, marking only the second time that Nick Mason, David Gilmour and Waters played together in the last 30 years. Waters and Gilmour performed "Comfortably Numb" as the crowd at the arena went absolutely insane, according to Rolling Stone, and during the finale of "Outside the Wall," Gilmour and Mason returned to the stage. They last performed together at Live 8 in 2005. As previously reported, EMI will be unleashing a massive reissue of the Pink Floyd catalog later this year, featuring DVDs, box sets, digital formats and more.
Keith Richards is getting back to work with his X-pensive Winos side project. The guitarist appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on May 12 and said that he has been working with songwriter/producer Steve Jordan for the new album, which will be his first under the moniker since 1992's Main Offender. Richards said that the new sessions were "starting to blossom" but didn't reveal any release date. As for the Rolling Stones writing new material together, he said, "I'm trying to nail them down but I don't want to crucify them."
