  • Van Halen is reportedly set to sign with Interscope Records!

    Van Halen is reportedly set to sign with Interscope Records, and the deal is expected to be finalized next week, according to the Hollywood Reporter. A source told THR that Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine "heard the band was available and wanted to work with them. It was decided at the 11th hour." What came next was a series of meetings that presented the band with a global deal that included extensive marketing, merchandising, touring and recordings. A new album, the first studio effort with David Lee Roth since 1984, is believed to be nearly finished with the hope that it can be released in 2012. Van Halen also has been expected to make a "special announcement" on November 30 during the Grammy Awards nominations concert, which will air live on CBS. However, a source told Rolling Stone that the band will not appear at the event.

    As expected, Black Sabbath's 11/11/11 press conference was to announce a reunion of the Metal icons, with a new album and a tour slated for 2012. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward made the announcement together at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, where the band made their L.A. debut exactly 41 years ago today. The press conference was hosted by Henry Rollins.

    Keith Richards was honored Tuesday with the Mailer Prize for Distinguished Biography for his book Life. Former President Bill Clinton introduced the Rolling Stones guitarist and a story about his late mother-in-law, Dorothy Rodham, was a major fan of the Stones. In related news, Richards tells Rolling Stone that he will jam together with Ron Wood and Charlie Watts in a London studio later this month. "We're just going to play a little together, because we haven't played for three or four years," Richards says. "You don't necessarily want to rehearse or write anything – you just want to touch bases. That's a good start: me, Charlie and Ronnie. Mick's welcome, and I'm sure he'll turn up, but right now we just want to get our chops down."

    Roger Daltrey and Robert Plant held a press conference in Los Angeles to announce the launch of the UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program. The program hopes to change a medical culture that categorizes patients as either adults or children, with few special considerations for teens. The announcement follows more than a decade of support by The Who and other musicians for England's Teenage Cancer Trust, which has established 19 cancer units for teenagers across the U.K. The U.S. version will be housed at UCLA Medical Center and will treat teens separately from young children and adults to focus on special concerns for teens who have cancer. Pete Townshend was not at the press conference because of an expired visa that kept him in England, but he sent a videotaped statement saying: "Let's hope in the USA it can catch fire the way it did here, because it does save lives."

    It looks like Van Halen will play at the Grammy Nominations Concert Live on November 30, which will air on CBS at 10 p.m. ET. The official Grammy Twitter account sent out a message that read: "Who do u predict the reuniting band will be @ #GRAMMYnoms? Does this hint make u wanna 'Jump' & 'Dance the Night Away'?" The Grammy Nominations Concert also will feature performances by Lady Gaga, Sugarland, Ludacris and Lupe Fiasco, and the show will be hosted by LL Cool J. The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 8 p.m.

    Peter Gabriel is the next artist lined up for CBS' Live At Letterman webcast series. Gabriel will perform live from the Ed Sullivan Theater next Wednesday, November 9 backed by a full orchestra. The webcast kicks off at 9 p.m. ET and will stream on various online CBS sites, as well as VEVO. Gabriel will also perform on the Late Show with David Letterman that evening in what is billed as his first American TV performance in a decade.

    Aerosmith was forced to postpone a show in Paraguay on Tuesday night after Steven Tyler had a "small accident," according to a Reuters report. Tyler received stitches and had emergency dental work done at the La Costa medical center in Paraguay's capital after he suffered cuts to his face and lost two of his teeth when he fell in his hotel bathroom. According to a hospital statement, he was in good condition when discharged. Tuesday's concert will now take place on Wednesday night instead. "Mr. Tyler had a small accident that prevents him from staging the concert tonight," Marcelo Antunez, a spokesman for the local concert organizers, told reporters. "He is fine, he's in his hotel but he's not able to do the concert."

    Rush will release a massive box set, Sectors, on November 21 compiling the Canadian trio's 15 albums released for Mercury Records. Sectors is made up of three, six-disc boxes, with five albums in chronological order and one album remixed on a 5.1 Surround Sound DVD. Each box includes a new booklet full of photos and lyrics, with all three sets combining to form a road case. Rush will also release a new live album, Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland, on November 7.

    The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is preparing to release some live music from its archives. The first release, The Best of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live, will go on sale November 1. The three-CD collection will feature performances by Billy Joel, Jimmy Page, Lynryd Skynryd, Al Green, Aerosmith, The Who and James Brown, among others. The second Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live installment will feature a digital collection of induction performances recorded between 1986 and 2009. Some of the highlights include George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Mick Jagger and Billy Joel performing The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There," and also Mick Jagger and Tina Turner duetting to the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman." The songs will be available on iTunes starting November 15.

    The Rolling Stones will transport fans back to the summer of 1978 in The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live In Texas, a one-night movie theater concert event on Tuesday, October 18. Unveiled for the first time in more than 30 years, this never-before-seen concert was captured live in Fort Worth, TX, on July 18, 1978. Digitally re-mastered to HD with Cinema Surround Sound, the footage includes a mixture of classic Stones hits such as "Brown Sugar," "Honky Tonk Women" and "Jumpin’ Jack Flash" paired with blues numbers and Chuck Berry covers, as well as songs from the then newly released Some Girls LP including "Beast of Burden" and "Miss You." The event will also include a 20-minute interview with Mick Jagger, filmed in August 2011, where he reflects on the 1978 U.S. tour.
