The best Christmas gift is the love we give and receive from friends and family. I want to express my thanks to all the listeners of 1045, the Fox for their continued support of the Jan and Phil show and the station in general.
I also want to express publically my love and appreciation for my husband and his wonderful family, especially my step-daughter, Dawn. She is one of the most loving and self-less people you could ever meet. She is always asking about others and caring for others, even though she struggles daily to live with Cystic Fibrosis. Several years ago she graduated from KU with a 3.9 grade point average while majoring in Genetics. Since that time she has remained in Lawrence working in ministry, providing love, acceptance and guidance to students at KU.
Each day she deals with an unbelievable amount of treatments, meds, lung infections, CF related diabetes and more.. but she does not let her struggle define who she is. She is married to another minister, Austin. Together they face whatever life brings with a resolve to remain optimistic and care for others. She has always accepted me, loved me and been kind and considerate, as has her mother, Margie to whom I am grateful. Being Dawn's step-mother is one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me and the best on-going gift ever. I am delighted to be spending Christmas with her, her husband and my loving husband, Kent (and puppies) this year.
If you have someone who has been a gift in your life, feel free to share that via our show this Christmas season.
