We have lived in our house six years and in that entire time I have not been able to get my car in the garage. That means that while my husband's truck is safely ensconced in the garage I stand scraping the ice off my windshield at 5:00 in the morning. We talk about cleaning out the other half of the garage, but never do it. It's the spot where "stuff" landed when we moved in. Kent says most of it is mine and I am going to run with that theory as my defense when I clean out the garage in his absence Saturday morning. I know he is leaving the house early and won't return until late. He is working out of town that day. I am bringing in a crew and we will get it done. None of his stuff will be discarded, unless it has become really gnarley in the past six years... I will let you Monday how it turns out!

Remember when you thought getting a Trim Line or Princess phone was pretty cool? We could never have imagined what was to come. Now I have a smart phone that makes jokes! Seriously?! Yes, it does. I asked it, "What's the Meaning for Life?" and it replied in a deadpan voice, "A Movie". She's here all week...in fact she's here at least 24 months...she cost too much to ask her to leave. And besides, my fingers get so tired having to scroll for numbers and she will just connect me whenever I ask and she loveds to type my texts. I am getting too spoiled.

I do not believe our own house is haunted. However, a dear friend and neighbor of mine has experienced several weird phenonmena at her house. This includes strange drips that appear on the glass surfaces in her very immaculate house. They are not red, thank goodness! Still very strange. Have you ever seen anything like that?

It's been fun spending time with the Wichita Paranormal Research Society, learning about their ghostly findings in Wichita. One Wichita office building, that must remain nameless, is the most haunted building they've investigated, with numerous ghosts encountered. When I say encountered, it's not that the spirits managed just to "move the EVP meter". Portions of their bodies and sometimes their entire bodies were actually visible to investigators. I went on one of these hunts in Oklahoma (not with the Wichita group) and I spent hours in an abandoned, decaying hospital. .. even sat around in the old morgue there, only thing that happened was one inexplicable sound. Can't say what I would have done had I seen a transparent, floating, person in there! I am fine with not being a good vehicle for ghosts. I did hear, and in one case actually feel some on my many excursions to haunted locations with my former morning show host...but thankfully...no appartions. Have you SEEN a ghost? Call us some morning before Halloween at 436-1045~Jan

Wild Bill Stanton, a former NYPD officer, Bodyguard and security consulant, has been hired to look into this case. An anonymous benefactor is picking up the tab. He's quite interesting and hopefully can find this missing child.http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/are-you-an-ostrich-sheep-or-lion/6bhh8ee?from=dest_en-us&src=v5:EndSlate%5EWide:related%5Eplay:related_0

Maybe and I do mean maybe, it is just coincidence, but I was quite close to three different vehicle accidents that occurred within 24 hours of each other. I feel like I have become "Mayhem" First, on a Monday night I saw a guy fall off his bike and my husband and I stopped to render aid. The next day I witnessed a near collision between two vehicles I was following, followed not 15 minutes later by an actual collision between 2 vehicles, one of which I had just walked past in a parking lot. "If you see me coming, better step aside" Mayhem is a rather cool word, but I'd rather it wasn't synonymous with "Jan".

William Shatner sings "Iron Man"
By Phil Thompson CREATED Oct. 11, 2011
On Tuesday, Emmy-winning actor William Shatner -- best known as Star Trek's Captain Kirk -- will release a new concept album called Seeking Major Tom. The idea behind the album is an imagining of what happened to Major Tom -- the astronaut character who first appeared in David Bowie's hit song "A Space Oddity." The two-CD set includes Shatner's mostly spoken-word interpretations of classic-rock tunes like The Police's "Walking on the Moon," Elton John's "Rocket Man," Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly" and Black Sabbath's "Iron Man," to name a few. It also features an impressive cast of guest musicians, including Peter Frampton, Steve Miller and members of Yes, The Kinks and Deep Purple, among others. "Twenty of the greatest musicians alive today," notes Shatner. "All either were asked to come and join me, or jumped at the chance to come and join me. God knows why. But the result is...I think, monumental!"

So Hank Williams, Jr. made inappropriate comments on Fox news. Why in the world would Fox news think he needed to comment on the golf game in the first place? And then why pull the open to Football for one night in response? I believe in free speech even though I don't agree with Hank. What a cluster!!!

My husband was away on business today and called to see if there was anything I needed from Oak Park Mall. I need brown shoes, but I didn't figure he'd be able to try them on for me. He agreed, but said he wanted to call and ask because he saw "Nordstrom's Rack" and thought of me. How very sweet.

If there are any psychics in the Fox audience, I'd like them to visualize the paperwork I had stowed on my microwave while re-doing my office...I removed it in haste before a family get together the other day and now I cannot find it!!!!! I know, first my keys...now this.

Phil and I were talking to the new guy, Johnny today. he was asking about how cold it gets here in the winter. We told him that he'd hear us saying "It's 9 degrees this morning" on the J and P show. Freaked him out a little and we get that. It reminded me that I need to spend more time outside before the cold weather arrives. Last year we had snow on the ground from mid December to mid February. Soooo, breakfast will be served outdoors at our house soon!

The odds are 1 in 3200 that a person somewhere will be hit by one of the 26 pieces of old satellite space junk returning to earth this Friday. It's believed that the area, whatever area, in which the stuff lands will be about 500 miles wide. Only those 26 pieces are believed to be of sufficient mass to make it through, but one weighs 300 pounds! Meanwhile, FALL begins at 4:05am Ks. time Friday. Guess on which continent or into which ocean the junk will tumble and win a prize. Details tomorrow on the Jan and Phil show!

Perry Ellis of Heights High School will announce his decision tomorrow as to where he will play basketball. He's ranked No.24 on Rivals.com and 37 on ESPNU's national list. He is Heights' all time rebound leader and second only to Aubrey Sherrod as far as points scored. I say he is going to KU and Phil predicts KY. We will find out Wednesday. No matter what he decides I wish we all could impart to him the wisdom we wish we would've had at his age. He's a great guy, but don't we all wish we had known then what we know now? Best wishes, Perry. You make us proud.

Remember the rumors of the late 60's? Paul was actually dead? I didn't buy it. However, I totally bought that this weekend would be the big wedding weekend for Paul and his fiancee, Nancy. Now it appears we (and Nancy and Paul) will be waiting a bit longer!

Remember "dragging Douglas"? Fond memories for most people. Well, times change and even Times Square now has portions that are pedestrian only and people are being encouraged to walk more. It's possible part of Douglas could become a pedestrian mall. Phil and I will discover this evening how the plans are looking and let you know what we might expect Douglas to look like in the future!
