The Riley County Police Department says the reports of a hostage situation at Lee Elementary appears to have been a hoax.
Police say a man called them around 1 a.m. and said he was in the school with a hostage. Officers searched the school and did not find anyone.
It’s believed the person making these claims lived outside the area and was trying to get air time.
