Suspect charged in 2018 homicide in Wichita

UPDATE:  Charges have been filed against 27-year-old Juan Caballeros-Yescas for a fatal 2018 shooting in Wichita.

Caballeros-Yescas was arrested on May 9th in El Paso, Texas, and he was brought back to Sedgwick County to face charges.  He appeared in court Wednesday on charges of first degree premeditated murder, aggravated burglary and three counts of aggravated assault.   Another court hearing was scheduled for June 11th.

Officers found 41-year-old Lucy Mojica on July 7, 2018 with several gunshot wounds at a home in the 500 block of West 17th Street North.  She died later at a hospital.

A suspect is now in custody for a fatal shooting that happened in 2018 at a north Wichita home.

Police said a 27-year-old man was arrested in El Paso, Texas on May 9th, and he was returned to Sedgwick County this week to face charges.

Officers found 41-year-old Lucy Mojica with several gunshot wounds on July 7, 2018 at a home in the 500 block of West 17th Street North.  She died later at a hospital.

Investigators said the suspect had been in a dating relationship with Mojica.    Information has been presented to the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office for the filing of charges.
