WSU drops out of college basketball tournament because of COVID-19

Wichita State University has dropped out of a pre-season college basketball tournament because of positive COVID-19 tests.

The Shockers were scheduled to begin play Wednesday in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.   University officials said there have been multiple positive tests for COVID-19 in the team travel party, but it’s not known if any players or coaches tested positive.

The Shockers are the sixth team to drop out of the tournament.  Other teams have stepped in as replacements and the tournament will begin play as scheduled.

The Shockers are scheduled to open the regular season at home against Oral Roberts on December 2nd.
