Winter storm expected in Kansas this week

A winter storm is expected to bring snow to south central Kansas this week, and a Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Wichita area.

The watch will be in effect from Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night.  It includes Sedgwick, Reno, Kingman, Harper, Harvey, Sumner, Butler, and Cowley counties.

The National Weather Service said there could be total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with the storm.   Our weather partners at KWCH, Storm Team 12, are saying there could be a mix of rain and snow Wednesday afternoon, changing over entirely to snow Wednesday night and continuing early Thursday.   At this point they’re forecasting 1 to 3 inches of snow for the city of Wichita but areas to the west could see higher amounts.
