Chase leads to fatal crash in south Wichita

UPDATE:  Police have identified the man who was killed when a stolen car crashed at a south Wichita intersection Tuesday morning.

Police said 36-year-old Donald Tucker, Jr was dead at the scene of the crash at MacArthur and Meridian.   Tucker was driving a car that was reported stolen around 6 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of West Lockwood.  Police said the car, a red 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, had been left running in the driveway of the home.    An officer spotted the car a short time later near 55th Street South and West Street, and the driver refused to stop.   Officers chased the car about a mile before it crashed.

The car struck a second vehicle at MacArthur and Meridian, and the 64-year-old driver of the second car was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has been asked to investigate the crash to avoid conflicts of interest.
