A winter storm brought an official measurement of six inches of snow to Wichita.

Higher amounts have been reported in west Wichita, and there was a report of 8.5-inches of snow in Augusta. You will come across deeper drifts in some places.

Snow-packed roads led to slideoffs across Wichita’s highways, though no major crashes were reported. The city’s snow plow trucks have been out working to keep roads passable. You can see where they have been by following the link below. Wichita’s plow trucks are not responsible for the highways.

Winter weather led to a lot of cancellations, including most school districts in the area.   Many schools will be closed again Thursday.

 

A Winter Storm Warning continues for Sedgwick and surrounding counties until 6 a.m. Thursday. Total snowfall is expected to reach up to 9-inches. Check for updates on snowfall totals through the day. These are totals as of 11:30 a.m.
