Two homeless men have been charged with second degree murder for a fatal assault near downtown Wichita.

63-year-old David Chandler and 31-year-old Abel Molina appeared in court Friday on the charges. Their bonds were set at $500,000 and their next court appearance was scheduled for March 7th.

Police arrested the two after a 911 call on the evening of February 22nd that reported someone being beaten on the Seneca Street bridge near the 600 block of North Seneca.   Police found 30-year-old Blake Barnes and he was taken to a hospital, where he died later.   Police said Barnes was also homeless.

A witness reported that Barnes was beaten with a metal pipe, and Chandler was arrested while walking away from the crime scene.   Molina was later found in the 400 block of North Seneca.
