UPDATE: Roberts was arrested without incident Thursday evening. Officials have not said what he was wanted for.

Schools in Towanda were placed on a situational lockout after police received a report of a dangerous character in the community.

The city placed a notice on its Facebook page just before noon warning of a “dangerous individual” who may be within city limits.

The FBI later revealed that they were working with Butler County officials in a search for 35-year-old James Roberts.   Deputies tried to arrest Roberts Thursday morning at the 4-Mile Creek Campground and Resort, but he ran from the area.   He is believed to be dangerous and anyone who has seen him is urged to contact law enforcement.  There’s no word on what he is wanted for.   Roberts is white, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds, with blond, balding hair and blue eyes.

Circle Schools, USD 375, decided to put the schools on lockout with no outside recess.  The lockout was only in effect for the schools in Towanda.
