Wild West Days Event Kicks Off Saturday at Old Cowtown Museum

Wild West Days kicks off this weekend at the Old Cowtown Museum.

The event takes place on September 24 at 1865 W. Museum Blvd.

Wild West Days is the largest gathering of old west reenactors in the Midwest, and serves as a fundraiser for Historic Wichita Cowtown, Inc., the non-profit that helps to support Old Cowtown Museum.

Visitors will experience historical encampments and enjoy special demonstrations, first-person presentations, shows, and raffles throughout the day. There are many opportunities for interaction with historical figures and lots of old west fun, including gambling and gunfights by eight different groups, as well as vendors and food trucks. Check the daily schedule here.

Funds raised during Wild West Days support programming at Old Cowtown Museum and the Board of Trustees’ nearly 20,000-piece permanent artifact collection of textiles, furnishings, tools, furniture, machinery, farming equipment and art. Old Cowtown Museum’s collections reflect aspects of life on the frontier in the late 1860s and 1870s. This collection is showcased throughout the 54 historic and recreated buildings at Cowtown located along the banks of the Arkansas River.
